Meadows is a term derived from its English meaning a grassland which is annually cut for hay.
Meadows Promotions Limited was founded in February 1991 with two central areas of operation - Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Nairobi (Kenya). Symbolic of its name, the company has provided a landscape for companies to "graze" on through constructive and innovative advertising and marketing services. For Meadows, the advertising space is wide open and the opportunities virtually limitless. Led by its Managing Director Mohamedarif Suleman, the company has risen from a small round the corner printer and publisher of advertising magazines to one capable of providing a mix of marketing solutions but always with the ethos of pioneering new ideas rather than following the brigade.
The Early Days:
When Meadows came into existence, Tanzania was still experiencing the rise of advertising, and for one reason or another, or for good or for worse, the industry was dominated by graphic designers who substituted the work of advertising agents catering to the middle strata of business. With time, the awareness of the market has changed drastically and advertisers who today require creatives rather than pieces of art, appreciate and turn to Meadows for support.
Bargains, was the first venture. The first advertising magazine that the market place saw. It was a low cost production that matched buyers and sellers in much the same way that most present-day ad mags do, spiced with interest-read articles.
Then, another new idea, another first occured...Premier Shopper Card - a discount card which combined various shops into providing discounts and special deals to shoppers.
Akili ni Mali - a quiz for students on a raffle format was launched, where hundreds of throusands of shillings were won in scholarships.The other services that are continuing to this day are CONNECTIONS, SokoniAdvertiser email marketing, amongst others.
